Orion (or originally Hawk ) is the name of a small American sounding rocket . The Orion has a length of 5.60 meters, a diameter of 0.35 meters, a launch mass of 400 kilograms, a launch thrust of 7 kN and a summit height of 85 kilometers. The rocket motor of disarmed Hawk anti-aircraft missiles is used as the engine . The Orion, built by the manufacturer WFF, is also used as an upper stage in other missile systems, e.g. B. in the Nike-Orion , Taurus-Orion , Improved-Orion and Terrier-Orion combinations.
