clinic

Infections with O. rhinotracheale belong to the multifactorial respiratory diseases. The main route of infection is the air we breathe. Turkeys are susceptible as early as the second week of life, but most infections appear from the 14th week. Depending on the virulence, the symptoms range from nasal discharge to severe general illnesses. Deaths are rare. The bronchi and lungs are also affected, especially in broilers .

Changes in the lungs and air sac are the main pathological changes.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis can be made by detecting pathogens from tracheal swabs, lungs and air sacs.

therapy

Because of the high levels of resistance in farm poultry, a resistance test is urgently recommended. Parent animals can be vaccinated with an inactivated vaccine .
