history
The magazine was founded in 1876 as a monthly of the Saxon-Thuringian Association for Ornithology and Bird Protection (Vol. 1–2). Since then it has changed its name several times: From 1878 to 1889 (vol. 3-14) it was referred to as the monthly of the German Association for the Protection of the Bird World . Then it operated from 1890 to 1937 (vol. 15–62) under the title Ornithological Monthly . The publisher at that time was the German Association for the Protection of the Bird World . In 1938 she received the title of German Bird World - Journal for Bird Protection and Ornithology (Vol. 63-69), which she ran until 1944. When it was reissued in 1949, it was named Die Vogelwelt(Vol. 70-114). It is currently called Die Vogelwelt - Contributions to Ornithology .
