The Orsay GmbH , based in Baden-Württemberg Willstätt is a founded in 1975 by German textile trading company.

The company, which specializes in fashion for young women, has 620 stores in 26 European countries, including around 260 in Germany. It is a subsidiary of the French Mulliez group .

history

When it was founded in 1975, there were 35 branches in Germany. The first branch outside Germany was opened in Switzerland in 1996 . In 1998 the first shop was opened in the Czech Republic and the Orsay online shop was opened. The vertically organized Orsay GmbH is controlled from Willstätt. The majority of Orsay stores are run independently, but there are also some Orsay stores that are operated by franchise partners . In addition to Germany (with around 260 shops), Central and Eastern Europe is the focus of expansion. Since 2002 there has been an Orsay headquarters for Central and Eastern Europe in Wroclaw, Poland .

Products and collection

The retail chain sells women's clothing and accessories such as shoes and jewelry. In January 2015 another product was launched with the perfume “L'or de Say”. Young, fashionable and affordable outfits describe the style of the collection. The most important reference countries are China, Turkey, Poland and India. The products are sold using a multichannel marketing strategy. They are available in stationary retail shops and in Orsay's own online shop. With the help of the Click and Collect offer, cross -channel sales are also possible.

Corporate responsibility

In 2010, the non-governmental organization Declaration of Bern compared the standards of working conditions in production countries by means of surveys and internet research at 77 fashion labels. Orsay was ranked in the second worst category “negligent” out of five categories.

Orsay has not used sandblasting technology in clothing production since 2011.

In July 2013 Orsay joined the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) as a Foundation Stage member. At this founding stage, Orsay has the same rights and obligations as a full member, but receives special support and guidance from the ETI in order to meet their basic requirements. In the course of joining the ETI, Orsay committed itself to implementing the ETI Base Code with its suppliers. This Code of Conduct contains nine clauses that set out basic rights for workers around the world.

Orsay has been a full member of the ETI since October 2015.

Daycare center Villa Filou

The day care center Villa Filou was created in 2005 from a parents' initiative by employees of the Orsay company. The Franco-German facility looks after children between the ages of 2.5 months and 3 years. Orsay supports the daycare center administratively and with donations.
