details

The company was founded in 1958 as Ørskov Christensen Stålskibsværft by Arne Ørskov Christensen. The shipbuilding company in Frederikshavn was initially operated purely as a new shipyard and built series of fishing vessels in the first few years. From 1961 on, numerous coasters were built and the shipyard expanded rapidly in the years that followed. In 1968 a research ship was built for the first time and at the beginning of the 1970s, significantly larger coasters came into the construction program. In 1972 the founder handed over the management to his son Niels Ørskov Christensen, under whose leadership the size of the ships on offer continued to grow. In the 1980s, the range of units built was expanded to include government, ferry and refrigerated vessels. In the 1990s, container ship designs were like the types Orskov Mk VI and Orskov Mk VII and gas tankers and offshore supply of Rolls-Royce -type 722 UT taken to offer, but it was to win more and more difficult construction jobs during the 1990s, as the Competitors from the Far East offered significantly lower building prices. Niels Ørskov Christensen finally gave up the new construction sector in 2003 and Orskov Yard A / S was re-established as a pure repair yard by Jeppe Ørskov as managing director and his sister Christina Ørskov as chairman of the board of directors. Jeppe Ørskov died in 2015, after which Christina Ørskov and Lars Fischer took over the management of the shipyard.

Today the company operates a ship repair yard with four of its own floating docks and employs around 230 people.
