The Orskov Mk VI container ship was built in a series of six units.

details

The Orskov Mk VI series of Fredrikshavner Ørskov Christensen Stålskibsværft was built between 1990 and 1992 for the Copenhagen shipping company Knud I. Larsen. The ships were designed as multi-purpose container ships with a deckhouse arranged completely aft and on-board cranes . They were mainly used in container transport. The capacity was 976 TEU. The ships of the series had two cranes attached to the port side with a lifting capacity of 40 tons.

The propulsion of the ships consisted of a MaK four-stroke diesel engine of the type 8 M601 with an output of 8800 kW. The engine drove a shaft generator and the controllable pitch propeller and allowed a speed of 18 knots. Furthermore, three auxiliary  diesels of the type MTU 8V396 with 640 kW each and an emergency diesel generator were available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers were supported by a bow thruster .
