Shield division

In heraldry, a herald's image is referred to as a place , also middle main piece or main body , which is located in the middle of the upper shield edge in the coat of arms and has a square shape. One side of the place is about a third of the width of the shield. The herald's image is colored differently than the shield. It is mostly smaller than the free quarter . It lies in an imaginary twice divided and twice split (so-called nine field) shield , on position 2 with row-wise field counting (with post-wise on position 4). At the lower edge of the shield in the middle of field 8 (or field 6), the place is opposite the heel point or the point .
