Ortland (oil field)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ortland oil field is a former oil production area east of the town of Quakenbrück in Lower Saxony. From 1956 on, the oil field was developed at depths of 630 to 375 m below sea level. The oil was extracted from the geological formation of the Dogger from 19 successful wells . A gas well from the Obermalm was later converted to oil production. In 1980 the cumulative production was already 290,000 t. Oil production in the field was stopped in 1995 with a cumulative total production of 306,222 tons of crude oil.
