The local chapel of Oberthürnau is a chapel in Lower Austria mentioned in the Austrian art topography and under monument protection .

History and description

The local chapel of Oberthürnau was built towards the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century.

The rectangular building has a pre-built tower with a square floor plan on the west side and a slightly recessed, semicircular apse on the east side . There is a round-arched window on each of the long sides of the chapel, which is flat on the inside.

The tower with a tiled pitched roof has beveled edges and sides bordered with pilaster strips . The sound windows were designed to be rounded.

The altar with twisted columns and cranked beams dates from around 1617.
