The Oberbilk bypass is a planned four-lane main road in Düsseldorf , which in the current project is to connect Werdener Strasse with Karl-Geusen-Strasse. For the most part, it runs on the site that is no longer required for Deutsche Bahn, right next to the railway line. A first section between the “Grand Central” development area and Kölner Strasse is to be completed by 2020.

traffic

As a local bypass road , the new main thoroughfare is intended to largely relieve Kölner Strasse of through traffic.

A traffic load of 25,000 vehicles per 16 hours is expected on the Oberbilk bypass. Expansion plans envisage that the street will be connected to Siegburger Straße and then accommodate 39,000 vehicles per day.

Since the forecast traffic would lead to the requirements of the 16th Federal Immission Control Ordinance being exceeded , a 4 meter high noise barrier is planned.
