Osaretin Demuren

Osaretin Afusat Demuren (born April 18, 1951 ) is a Nigerian banker and the first female chairman of Guaranty Trust Bank .

biography

Demuren attended the St. Maria Goretti Girls Gymnasium in Benin . She has a degree in economics and statistics from the Moscow Institute and a diploma in Russian and preparatory studies from Kiev State University in Kiev .

In 1976 she joined the Central Bank, where she worked in various departments, including the trading and exchange departments. She later moved to the human resources department, where she worked as a director. She resigned from banking on December 29, 2009 after 33 years in the industry. She is a member of various professional associations, including the Society for Human Resource Management of America , the Nigerian Statistical Association , the Chartered Institute of Personal Management in Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Nigeria. She sits on the boards of the Trust Fund Pensions Plc and LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited . Demuren joined the Board of Guaranty Trust Bank plc in April 2013 and was named chairman in 2015.

Private life

Demuren is married to former director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Harold Demuren . She lists her hobbies as reading and counseling work in her local church.
