The Oscar Anderson House Museum is a historical museum in downtown Anchorage , Alaska . The building is located in Elderberry Park and was built by Oscar Anderson in 1915 . Anderson claimed to be the 18th person to walk into what is now Anchorage. The building was the first timber frame house in Anchorage and was inhabited by Anderson until his death in 1974. The house was completely restored between 1978 and 1982 and is now open as a historical house museum. It was listed as a structure on the National Register of Historic Places in June 1978 .
