Oscar Brandon

Oscar Brandon (born August 8, 1971 ) is a badminton player from Suriname .

Athletic career

Oscar Brandon was the only Suriname badminton player to take part in the Olympics. In the men's singles he started at the 1996 Olympics and played there in the first round match against Jaimie Dawson from Canada. He lost with 5:15 and 4:15 and was 32.

Oscar Brandon was named Sportsman of the Year in Suriname in 1998, after winning the São Paulo Cup and Argentina International in mixed and Suriname International in men's singles. He was also a finalist of the Argentina International 1998 in men's singles, the South American championship in men's doubles in 1998 and the Carebaco games in 1998 in mixed. With number 62 in the world rankings in 1998, he reached the highest position that a player from Suriname has ever achieved in badminton.

He was in the semi-finals of the mixed of the Carebaco Games 2003 and the men's doubles of the Suriname International 2008.
