Oshibori

Oshibori ( Japanese お し ぼ り less often お 絞 り or 御 絞 り , dt. "Wrung out") describes a damp refreshing towel or small moist towel that is given to the guest in a restaurant before dinner. It is used to clean hands or face. Depending on the season, it can have been moistened with warm (in winter) or cold water (in summer).
