Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra
The Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra is affiliated with the orchestra of the City of Osnabrück and the Osnabrück Theater there . The ensemble has had the status of a B orchestra since the 2004/2005 season . The orchestra was founded in 1919 and has existed practically continuously since then, with a three-year break during the Second World War . Almost 60 musicians currently play in the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra.
The chief conductors and general music directors of the orchestra were:
- Bruno Hegmann (1947–1965)
- Heinz Finger (1965–1988)
- Jean-François Monnard (1988–1999)
- Lothar Koenigs (1999-2003)
- Hermann Bäumer (2003–2012)
Andreas Hotz has been leading the orchestra since 2012 .
Two concerts in Tehran in 2007 attracted particular attention , where the Osnabrück-based orchestra was the first western orchestra to perform since 1979.
