Easter Christmas
Osterweih was a village in what is now the northern suburb of Zwickau . It is considered the origin of the city of Zwickau, but later fell into desolation .
In the early 12th century, in the area around today's Zwickau - as in other areas of the Elbe river basin - the Christianization of the Sorbs who lived there took place. A document dated May 1, 1118, issued by the Naumburg bishop Dieterich , documents the consecration of the local Marienkirche as a baptistery for the Christianization of the territory. This document also mentions a “territorium Zcwickaw” for the first time, which serves as the basis for naming the age of Zwickau.
