history

Start of the website, relaunch and new focus

The Otaji website started on February 9, 2015. At that time, the website was about anime , manga , cosplay and Asian music. The focus, however, was on reporting on anime and manga. The project was previously active on social networks on Facebook and Twitter. The first interview with the Asian trio NO BORDERZ was published on May 16, 2015.

The initial design of the website was too intrusive for the website visitors. In order to appear more professional and to be able to offer additional content, there was a complete relaunch in August 2016, including a new logo. This enables the editorial team to offer content better and more seriously and to cover other fields. In January 2017, the six-part article series BiGFLO: Next Step began , which deals with the restructuring of the South Korean K-Pop band Bigflo .

In order to increase the quality of the content, the team decided in August 2017 to focus from now on on Asian music with reference to Germany. There are now articles about events in Germany and in German-speaking countries, such as club concerts with J-Rock , J-Pop and K-Pop or reports about concerts by Japanese and South Korean artists in Germany.

Otaji Music Charts

On January 7th, 2018 Otaji started its own charts, the Otaji Music Charts . Songs from China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan are represented in these charts. The current evaluation of the charts always appears on Saturdays when the new voting period begins. The aim is not only to focus on popular K-Pop, but also on successful songs from other Asian countries.
