The Otmar-Alt-Sprinter was a regional multiple unit of the type RegioSprinter , which was designed in 2002 by the artist Otmar Alt . The vehicle was owned by the Rurtalbahn until 2019 and was used by them under vehicle number 6.008.1 or 95 80 0654 008-1 D-RTB in the Düren area.

Otmar Alt not only created the outer walls of the train, but also the interior as a work of art. It was therefore not just a pure means of transport, but a unique work of art on rails. The train served as an exhibit at public events and trade fairs and as a social car that could be rented by everyone for private and public occasions.

In contrast to the other, otherwise identical vehicles of the Rurtalbahn, this vehicle had air conditioning and 2 + 2 seating.

The Düren District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn had the idea for this vehicle . The Dürener Kreisbahn provided the RegioSprinter . The property was sponsored by the Linnich company SIG Combibloc GmbH . Specially made glass pictures and ceramics created by Otmar Alt were permanently installed inside the train.

This RegioSprinter completed its maiden voyage in artistic design on June 4, 2002 between Düren and Heimbach, a few days before the reactivation of the Jülich - Linnich railway line , the date of which had been postponed to June 7 at short notice from the regular timetable change (May 26, 2002) . He was used for various special trips, but was occasionally also to be found in the planning service. It was often used for journeys on the Bördebahn , which until 2019 was only used on weekends and because of the manual securing of numerous level crossings it held a special position within the passenger traffic of the Rurtalbahn GmbH.

After the Rurtalbahn purchased more modern RegioShuttle (from 2011) and LINT 54 (from 2017) railcars , these gradually took over operation and the RegioSprinters were sold to the Czech Republic. On February 25, 2019, the last RegioSprinter left the Düren district. The former Otmar-Alt-Sprinter has been in use since the timetable change in December 2019 together with three other RegioSprinters for the Czech railway company AŽD Praha in northern Bohemia between Most and Litoměřice . For this purpose, the vehicles were u. a. equipped with air conditioning, sockets, WiFi, toilet facilities and passenger information displays.
