Otomatic is a prototype anti-aircraft tank that was developed by the Italian company Oto Melara in the 1980s. A variant of the 76/62 Compact ship gun was installed on the modified chassis of the Palmaria self- propelled howitzer . The tank has a search radar to detect enemy aircraft and a fire control radar to guide the anti-aircraft gun. Targets up to 6 km away can be fought effectively.
The Italian army tested the weapon system on the basis of a Leopard 1 chassis. For cost reasons it finally decided in favor of the much less powerful SIDAM 25 .
