Otto Klung Foundation

The Otto Klung Foundation is a legal foundation under civil law based in Berlin . Otto Klung (1893–1968) was a media clerk who achieved financial success in Berlin, especially after the Second World War. Throughout his life he is said to have regretted that he did not have the opportunity to complete a further scientific course that would have enabled him to actively shape progress in science and society.

At the end of 2013, the Weberbank Foundation ended the cooperation. The Otto Klung Foundation, the Dr. Wilhelmy Foundation and the chairmen of the Chemistry and Physics Prize Committee have agreed on the future name of the Klung Wilhelmy Science Prize. The provisions of the statutes of the Otto Klung Foundation regarding the selection process for outstanding young scientists in physics or chemistry, alternating annually by volunteer experts from universities and research institutions, have been updated.
