Otto Gerhartl

Otto Gerhartl (born February 26, 1907 in Neunkirchen ; † January 23, 1998 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and engraver. Gerhartl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1949 to 1969 .

Gerhartl attended elementary and community school and then learned to be a fitter. He subsequently worked as a machine engraver, was arrested for political reasons in 1934 and drafted into military service in 1939 and from 1943 to 1945. He became a British prisoner of war. Gerhartl was SPÖ district party secretary from 1946 and was elected to the Neunkirchen municipal council in 1946 . Between 1960 and 1974 he held the office of mayor. Gerhartl represented the SPÖ between November 5, 1949 and November 20, 1969 in the Lower Austrian state parliament.
