The Otto Hug Radiation Institute is an institute that deals with radiation protection . It emerged from the radiation commission of the Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany and was named after the radiation biologist Otto Hug .

The purpose is to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. To this end, the institute researches the biological effects of radiation, including the interactions with other environmental influences.

The institute issues reports. These are the primary communication organ of the Society for Radiation Protection eV

Declared purpose

The institute is dedicated to:

  • the exchange of information as well as research and work results, the issuing of publications, the events of specialist conferences and participation in specialist conferences
  • the initiation and implementation of research as well as training and further education measures in the field of radiation science and radiation protection
  • the clarification of legal questions resulting from the application of international and national legal provisions for radiation protection
  • the elaboration of proposals and reports on specific questions of radiation protection
  • the discussion of opinions on legislative projects in the field of radiation protection
  • public relations work in questions of radiation protection.
