Otto Wittstock

Otto Wittstock (born November 24, 1928 in Berlin ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

Otto Wittstock studied Classical Philology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the University of Rostock , where he received his PhD in 1970. phil. received his doctorate . He was then employed as a lecturer at the University of Greifswald (Theology Section), where he held Latin, Greek and Indo-European courses. In 1979 he completed his doctorate B to become Dr. sc. phil. and was appointed university lecturer. In 1994 he retired.

Otto Wittstock was particularly concerned with translation theory, which also formed the core of his academic teaching. He also wrote numerous studies on the historian Suetonius .
