Ouédraogo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oral tradition says that Ouédraogo was the founder of the first Mossi empire, Tenkodogo . His mother Yennega (Nyennega) was the daughter of a ruler of the Dagomba in Gambaga in what is now Ghana , his father Riallé a Boussansi who lived in exile because of a dispute over the succession. At the age of 15, Ouédraogo visited his grandfather's land and received 4 horses and 50 cows. On his return to the north, many of the Dagomba riders followed him and conquered his father's land with him. Ouédraogo decided to settle in Tenkodogo ("old country") and married Pourikiteka, a Boussansi woman who bore him three sons. The eldest, Diaba Lompo , became the ruler of Gulmu , Rawa the ruler of Zondema , Zoungrana , the youngest, remained in Tenkodogo.
