Overtown

Overtown is a district of Miami . It borders on Downtown Miami to the northwest and is mostly inhabited by African Americans. Until the 1960s, Overtown was a center of black art and music. Significant decline began with the construction of various highways through the center of Overtown. Overtown became a typical American ghetto.

In the district is the Historic Overtown / Lyric Theater Station of the Miami-Dade Metrorail .
