Downtown Miami is a district of the City of Miami . Together with Brickell (Miami) , it forms downtown Miami. It is north of the Miami River. The main street is the east end of Flagler Street. Many buildings from the early days of Downtown Miami have now been replaced by modern high-rise buildings ( Miami Tower , Southeast Financial Center , Marina Blue ). The Royal Palm Hotel (Miami) was one of the first buildings in Miami. A well-known landmark of the city is the Freedom Tower (Miami) .

The Ultra Music Festival is held annually in Downtown Miami ; a well-known club is the Club Space . The home games of the Miami Heat basketball team are played in the American Airlines Arena .

The MiamiCentral train station has been located in Downtown Miami since 2018 . The first train station in Miami ( Florida East Coast Railway ) was located here as early as 1896 .
