Liberty City (Miami)
Liberty City is a district of Miami . It's located a few miles north of Downtown Miami . Of the 43,000 residents, 95 percent are African-Americans.
The first housing developments (Liberty Square) were built for a black middle class in the 1930s as part of the New Deal . Liberty City became a meeting point for black culture during the segregation of Miami.
The Oscar-winning film Moonlight (2016) was partially shot in Liberty City.
