Oxford History of England

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oxford History of England was a series of books on the history of Great Britain published by Oxford University Press from 1934 to 1986 . The editor was George Clark (1890–1979).

Despite the title, the series covered the whole of Great Britain and partly also the British Empire.

As a result, the books were frequently revised and were considered standard works. From 1992 the New Oxford History of England appeared , edited by JM Roberts (1928–2003).
