Pádraic McCormack

Pádraic McCormack ( Irish Pádraic Mac Cormaic , born May 16, 1942 ) is an Irish politician and has been a member of the lower house of the Irish Parliament since 1989 .

McCormack was Senator in the Seanad Éireann from 1987 to 1989 . In 1989, the former member of the Galway County Council was first elected for the Fine Gael in the Dáil Éireann . In the following elections, McCormack managed to defend his seat in the Dáil. In April 2006 McCormack announced that he would no longer stand for re-election in 2007. However, after Brian Walsh, who was to run in place of McCormack, in turn refrained from running, McCormack reversed his decision and ran again in 2007.

From 1992 to 1993 McCormack held the office of Mayor of Galway .
