The rank of a general is not necessarily associated with this position; in all smaller branches of the army , the respective generals of the branches have the rank of colonel , in the case of the larger branches the rank of brigadier general . Depending on the actual rank, the address is either Mr. Colonel or Mr. General . All generals of a branch are responsible for the further development of their branch.
