Pali Text Society
The Pali Text Society (PTS) is an association founded in 1881 by Thomas William Rhys Davids (1843–1922) in London for the scientific edition and translation of texts of the Buddhist Pali canon . It was the first organization to transcribe and translate this canon on a large scale.
The Journal of the Pali Text Society appears at irregular intervals from 1882, and revived after a long break since 1981 .
Fragile Palm Leaves Foundation
In 2001, the Fragile Palm Leaves Foundation was established under the auspices of the Pali Text Society . The aim is to improve the study of Buddhist literature in Southeast Asia . For this purpose u. a. the still existing texts, traditionally written down on palm leaves, collected and scanned in order to make them accessible for research. The stock of the existing manuscripts and texts amounted to 5-10,000 in July 2014.
