P2P Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Michel Bauwens that deals with the implications and opportunities of peer-to-peer technologies for society. The institute was registered under the name Stichting Peer to Peer Alternatives , dossier no: 34264847 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

purpose

The declared aim of the organization is to provide a platform for advocates of social restructuring based on peer-to-peer processes. The organization's Choke Point Project aims to map the entire Internet and to point out how easy it is to turn off the Internet for large parts of the population. It won the 2011 Golden Nica Award for "The Next Idea" .

Bitcoin Nakamoto controversy

Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin , published one of the first articles about Bitcoin on the P2P Foundation website.
