Rolf Heilmann

Rolf Heilmann (born June 11, 1960 in Burgstädt ) is a German physicist and university professor.

Live and act

Rolf Heilmann studied physics at the University of Leipzig and received his doctorate there in 1991 with a thesis on photoluminescence on compound semiconductors. He then worked at the German Aerospace Center on the development of lasers for optical communication between satellites. At the Kayser-Threde company he developed lidar systems to increase safety in air traffic.

Heilmann has been Professor of Measurement Technology at the Munich University of Applied Sciences since 1996 and teaches physics , sensor technology , digital signal processing and photonics . He also works as a course instructor in engineering training at the Technical Academy in Esslingen . His current fields of work are the simulation of optical measurement systems and new concepts in university didactics for physics and engineering.

Heilmann has been chairman of the Physical Technologies Faculty Conference at German universities since 2008 and, in this role, is actively involved in the design of new courses. He is the author of non-fiction books and gives popular science lectures for adults and as part of the children's university .
