history

In the years after the Second World War there was a shortage of skilled workers in Germany: due to war deaths and prisoners as well as the establishment of the Bundeswehr, the labor market was short of many young workers. At the same time, the need for skilled workers rose sharply due to the economic miracle .

In order to qualify local workers and recruited guest workers as required, local companies founded pre-forms of the Technical Academy Esslingen. From the Radio Club Esslingen , which had joined the WBRC (Radioclub Esslingen as a local association in the Württemberg-Badischer Radio Club) in 1946, the Association for Technical Progress was created in 1952 . In 1955, the first courses took place in Esslingen as a branch of the Technical Academy Wuppertal eV . Ten years later, the Technical Academy Esslingen e. V. was founded in order to bring technicians and engineers who have completed vocational training up to the state of the art through further training.

In 1969 the Academy moved into the Otto Kögler House in Esslingen am Neckar , followed in 1976 by the move to Ostfildern-Nellingen. In 1995 the academy merged with the Esslingen Medical and Technical Academy (MTAE).

activities

Today, experts from science and practice pass on their knowledge in seminars, certificate courses and specialist conferences at the TAE. For example, the largest European tribology colloquium takes place in Ostfildern every two years with around 700 participants . Tribology experts from over 50 countries meet here. As the institute for contact studies at the University of Stuttgart , the University of Hohenheim , the University of Esslingen and the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart , TAE conducts around 1000 events per year in the following eight areas:

  • Mechanical engineering, vehicle technology and tribology
  • Mechatronics and automation technology
  • Electrical engineering, electronics and power engineering
  • Information technology
  • Medical technology
  • Construction
  • Business administration and personal work skills
  • Management and leadership

Furthermore, TAE is an accredited training provider of the Society for Technical Communication for further training as a technical writer. In addition, individual training concepts for companies on the subject of employee qualification are developed and in-house training courses are carried out in all business areas, taking special company needs into account.

Vocational school and technical school MTAE

Medical-technical assistants (MTA) are trained at vocational schools in Germany. This training in health care is uniformly regulated throughout Germany (MTA law) and can be completed for four professions: medical-technical laboratory assistant (MTLA), medical-technical radiology assistant (MTRA), in preparation: medical-technical assistant for functional diagnostics (MTAF) ). Each of these training courses takes three full-time years.

State-certified medical technicians (MT) are trained at technical colleges in Germany, and a comparable qualification is only available in Switzerland. In contrast to the MTA, it is a further training, i. H. Applicants must have completed vocational training. These training courses are usually carried out at technical schools that also serve other fields.

The further training measures and certificate courses are based on this and other training courses and qualify for further demanding activities in medical technology and healthcare.

The Medical Technical Academy Esslingen (MTAE, founded in 1976), which specializes in medical-technical content, has a certain special position here . It offers training to become a MTRA and MTLA and advanced training to become a state-certified medical technician. In addition, the qualification for teaching MTA can be acquired here while working.

The Esslingen Medical Technical Academy has been part of the TAE since 1995.
