PASI score

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PASI score is an index for determining the severity of psoriasis diseases. The abbreviation PASI stands for Psoriasis Area and Severity Index , the index describes the extent of the disease and describes the severity based on the reddening and the thickness of the plaques and scaling .

The maximum PASI score can reach 72 points for very serious illnesses. A distinction is made between patients with mild, moderate and severe illness, although there are no uniform criteria that allow the distinction between moderate and severe.

A moderate to severe illness is present if the PASI is at least 10. The severity of psoriasis can also be defined solely by the affected body surface. A moderate to severe illness is when more than ten percent of the body surface is affected.

modification

A method that combines the benefit of a computer-based measurement of body surface area affected on a digital photo with the estimation of Läsionsränder by a physician uses a modified PASI ( English PCASI, psoriasis Continuous Area and Severity Index ).
