Agathangelos ( Armenian Ագաթանգեղոս , ancient Greek Ἀγαθάγγελος , bearer of good news') is the pseudonym of the author of a story of the Christianization of Armenia by Gregory the Illuminator and the conversion of King Trdate III in the second half of the 5th century . , which was initially written in Armenian and later translated into Syrian , Coptic , Arabic and Georgian languages. Agathangelus claims to be an eyewitness to the described events from the beginning of the 4th century.

Although the individual editorial offices strongly contradict each other, the work is the most important source for this era. The author is undoubtedly Armenian and pretends to be the scribe of King Trdat III. to be, on whose behalf he, as a contemporary, wrote down the events (according to his chronology of the years 301-330).
