PPP Eastern Region
The PPP Eastern Region comprises all ASFINAG projects for the construction of motorways and expressways in eastern Austria , the construction of which is financed through a public-private partnership model. In such models, the road project is built and operated by private companies. This is also responsible for operation and maintenance until 2039 (30 years). The road then becomes the property of ASFINAG. However, the toll revenues go to ASFINAG.

In addition to the construction, the companies associated with the main contractor will also take over the pre-financing and the motorway operation for the next three decades. The refinancing takes place via traffic-dependent shadow toll payments for counted vehicles (trucks, cars) per motorway section, as well as quality-dependent availability payments. In the case of the second, ASFINAG pays the concessionaire for the “permanent availability” of the motorway route under defined quality conditions.
In addition, there will be payments from ASFINAG for structures that become the property of municipalities and states after their construction, such as state or municipal roads.
Project Y
In phase 1, the so-called project Y was set up between 2007 and 2010 . The name symbolizes the visual arrangement of the road connecting routes, which form an upside-down Y-shape. The construction contract was awarded to Bonaventura Straßenerrichtungs-GmbH , a consortium around the companies Alpine , Hochtief and Egis Projects , following an EU-wide tender .
The project includes 51 kilometers of motorway and comprises the following sections:
- S2 bypass Süßenbrunn : New construction of the S2 Wiener Nordrand expressway from the junction Hermann-Gebauer-Straße to the junction Süßenbrunn . Opening: October 31, 2009
- S1 Ost : New construction of the S1 Wiener Außenring Schnellstraße from the Süßenbrunn junction to the Eibesbrunn junction . Opening: October 31, 2009
- S1 West : New construction of the S1 Vienna outer ring expressway from the Eibesbrunn junction to the Korneuburg junction . Opening: January 31, 2010
- A5 South : New construction of the A5 North motorway from the Eibesbrunn junction to the Schrick junction . Opening: January 31, 2010
