The book The Golden Apples of the Sun ( The Golden Apples of the Sun ) is a collection of 22 science fiction stories of the American writer Ray Bradbury . The original American version was published by Doubleday in 1953. The collection includes short stories published in various magazines and journals between 1945 and 1953. The German first edition was published by Marion von Schröder Verlag in 1970 under the title Geh 'nicht zu Fuß durch Stille Straßen . The Diogenes Verlag reprinted the book in 1981 and took over the original title in German translation.

The title is the last line of the poem The Song of Wandering Aengus by William Butler Yeats .

It was reissued in 1990 by Bantam Books under the title Classic Stories I , using short stories from the short story collection R is for Rocket . However, 4 short stories from The Golden Apples of the Sun and one from R is for Rocket , which were still present in the respective original editions, were left out in this issue .

The third and fourth editions were published by Avon under the titles Golden Apples of the Sun (1997) and A Sound of Thunder and Other Stories (2005).
