PROJ.4 , or now PROJ , is a program library that can be used to convert geodata between different map network designs . It is z. B. used by GDAL / OGR , GRASS GIS , QGIS , MapServer , PostGIS and Mapnik . There is also a command line based program ( cs2cs ) with which coordinates can be converted directly.
There are numerous bindings in other languages, e.g. B. Java , JavaScript , PHP or C # .
Versioning and naming
With the release of version 5, the program library was renamed PROJ. The project itself remains with the name PROJ.4.
With a few exceptions, the library should remain backwards compatible.
