The computer program PS-Explore is an originally on exploratory method of data analysis oriented statistical software system . The first version was offered in 1984 under MS-DOS . PS-Explore has been further developed and maintained for Microsoft Windows since 1995 .
PS-Explore encompasses all areas of statistical data analysis, starting with descriptive and exploratory procedures up to procedures from the area of multivariate statistics . There are also various methods of cross-tabulation and the creation of tables with statistical parameters.
In contrast to classic statistical systems such as SPSS , SAS , BMDP and P-STAT , which were developed on mainframe systems in the 1960s and 1970s, PS-Explore is a native microcomputer program . Instead of a stack-oriented program philosophy , PS-Explore focuses on the application developed for use in a dialog-oriented environment. A high level of interactivity in data analysis enables even large amounts of data to be specifically filtered, examined and analyzed down to the last detail. Here, the program system benefits from its original orientation towards methods of exploratory data analysis.
In addition to the interactivity, PS-Explore has a stringent integration of graphic display options and an integrated reporting system, which allows the user to put the calculations carried out directly into a complete overall report based on their own text system, Microsoft Word , PDF or other formats.
In addition, the system offers its own extensive macro language for automating larger analysis processes. The system also has its own database component, which makes it possible to define entry masks for a wide variety of applications and to use them in multi-user operation.
