The two shipyards belonging to the Hegemann Group, Rolandwerft in Berne and Peenewerft in Wolgast, shared the construction of the ships. The latter built the hull with the main engine and the deckhouse as well as the two Liebherr cranes in Wolgast into a hull insurance that could be transported. The hulls were then towed to Berne, where the final equipment and testing was carried out by the Roland shipyard. The PW 1150 series has been built for various foreign and German shipping companies since 2000.
