Pa Malick Ceesay ran in the 2012 parliamentary elections as a candidate for the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) in the Lower Saloum constituency in the Janjanbureh Administrative Area . With 72.19% he was able to win the constituency before Serign Bandeh Jadama (NRP). At the end of April 2015, with effect from May 11, 2015, Ceesay was expelled from the APRC and thus also from the National Assembly ; he had previously been charged with an economic offense. The IEC has scheduled August 6, 2015 for a by-election for this constituency.

In March 2017, Ceesay joined the National Reconciliation Party (NRP).
