Pachyrhinus lethierryi is a beetle from the family of weevils and the subfamily Entiminae .

features

The beetles are 4–5.5 mm long. They are light green in color. They are densely scaled.

distribution

The original distribution area extends over southern France, Corsica and Sardinia . Since the middle of the 20th century, Pachyrhinus lethierryi has been expanding to the north, among other things. The species is now represented in northern France, since 2001 in Germany, in Switzerland, since 2003 in Great Britain, in the Benelux countries, in Spain and since 2015 in Asia Minor .

Way of life

The beetles can be seen between mid-April and June. They are often found on cypresses , especially Leyland cypress and Mediterranean cypress ( Cupressus sempervirens ), on stinging juniper ( Juniperus oxycedrus ) and Phoenician juniper ( Juniperus phoenicea ) and on arborvitae ( Thuja ). The larvae develop in the root system of their host plants. After mating, the females lay their eggs. The adult beetles die in the course of the summer.
