Bicycle bag
Bicycle bags (also called panniers) are bags of various types that are specially designed to be attached to the bicycle and allow luggage to be carried. Often they are made of waterproof material. There are bag systems in different sizes or different capacities that are placed in the shape of an inverted U over the bike rack and then fixed with buckles or similar.
Also common today and increasingly widespread are single bags that can be fixed to the left or right of the luggage rack or lowrider with various click mechanisms and easily removed again.
Another form are handlebar bags, which are fastened either with buckles or with a click system in front of the handlebars of the bike. Often they have a slide-in compartment with a transparent protective cover on the top, which allows a map to be read while driving and protects it from rain and dirt.
In addition to the bicycle bags already mentioned, there are also frame bags for smaller transport needs. These are attached inside the bicycle frame, they can usually only be attached sensibly to bicycles with diamond frames .
There are bags that look similar to briefcases and have protective inlays for the transport of a laptop , suitcase or topcase- like bags for the rear rack , handlebar bags with camera inserts and other special designs .
Cheap bicycle bags are often not waterproof, so that the goods to be transported inside the bags must also be packed in plastic bags or special inserts. Some variants are even dangerous due to the lack of stability of their shape or attachment, as they can get caught in the spokes or fall off the bike if vibrated.
