Labrador made his debut in Papito Rivera's program on radio station RI1.A. in 1929 at the age of 12 . in Santiago and in 1930 at the Teatro Independencia as well as in programs by Vitelio Morillo and Ana Pieter . He later received the license to operate his own radio station, which he called Radio Escribano, La Voz de la Alegría . In plays like La bola de cristal and Cero Invasión he mocked the regime of the dictator Trujillo , which was made possible for him not least because he was under the protection of the dictator's mother, Julia Molina .
