Pagoda of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees
The pagoda of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees ( Chinese 六榕 寺塔 , Pinyin Liùróng sì tǎ ) is the pagoda of the Liurong Temple in Guangzhou (Canton) in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong . The temple was founded in 537 of the Liang Dynasty in the time of the Southern Dynasties , initially it was called Bǎozhuāngyán sì宝 庄严 寺. Its pagoda was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt in the style of the time during the Northern Song Dynasty .
The octagonal tower-style pagoda made of wood and brick has nine floors and is 57 m high.
The Pagoda of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-681) since 2006 .
