Sybille Philippin

Sybille Philippin (* 12. October 1970 in Mannheim as Sybille woodpecker ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

The artist grew up in Denmark, on Lake Starnberg, in Bad Bergzabern and in Oldenburg. She received piano and violin lessons very early on. She studied at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden with Helga Köhler-Wellner . She passed her artistic state examination "with distinction". This was followed by postgraduate studies, supported by a DAAD scholarship , at the Indiana School of Music in Bloomington with Costanza Cuccaro . She attended master classes a. a. with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf , Grace Bumbry , Carlo Bergonzi and Elio Battaglia .

From 2001 to 2007 she was a member of the ensemble at Theater Bremen . There she sang B. the following games: Juno in Orpheus in the Underworld , Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen , Ramiro in The Gardener from Love , Eliza in My Fair Lady , Rosina in The Barber of Seville , Dorabella in Così fan tutte , Flora in La traviata , Ida in Die Fledermaus and the Composer in Ariadne on Naxos . She also appeared on the music stages in Dortmund, Hamburg, Indiana (USA), Dresden and at the Lausitzer Kultursommer.

From 2007 to 2010 the mezzo-soprano was a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz , where she a. a. could be seen and heard as Giovanni in Boccaccio , the weaver in The Tale of Tsar Saltan , Hansel in Hansel and Gretel , Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro , La Belle in Beauty and the Beast , Nisia in Love and Jealousy (The Sash and the flower) by ETA Hoffmann and the 2nd lady in the magic flute .

In addition to her stage presence, Sybille Philippin is also active as a lieder and concert singer. Her concert activities have taken her to the Philharmonie in Moscow, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and to Santiago de Chile.

The artist is married, has two children and has been working as a freelance singer, vocal teacher and choir director since 2010.

Sybille Philippin was a finalist at the Ferruccio Tagliavini singing competition in Deutschlandsberg, the Bertelsmann competition Neue Voices in Gütersloh, the Viotti Valsesia competition in Piedmont and the I Cestelli singing competition in Dresden.
