Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club

The Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium is a cricket stadium in Borella, Colombo , Sri Lanka that was inaugurated in 1945. Since 1977 it has been named after the former president of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu . The stadium is the venue for international test matches and one-day internationals .

Capacity and infrastructure

The stadium's capacity today is 15,000. The two ends are called Janashakthi Complex End and Scoreboard End .

International cricket

Sri Lanka's first test against England was held in the stadium in 1982 . The first ODI was against Australia in 1983 . Until 1994, both tests and ODIs were held here regularly before it came to a halt. Tests have primarily been carried out here since 2002, although an ODI has only taken place here since 2007.

National cricket

The stadium is the home of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club and is used by them in national championships.
