Pajas Blancas (Montevideo)
Pajas Blancas is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

It is located in the southwestern part of the Montevideo department . Together with Casabó, it forms the joint Casabó - Pajas Blancas district , which is surrounded by the Río de la Plata and the northern and northwestern district of Paso de la Arena and La Paloma - Tomkinson and Cerro in the east. The area of the Barrios Pajas Blancas itself is located west of Cerro de Montevideo and northwest of Punta Yeguas . It extends from the Camino Tres Esquinas over the Sanfuentes to the Avenida Tres Esquinas
history
The area of the Barrios used to belong to the Lernou family, who came from France and lived in Buenos Aires . That family eventually sold to the brothers Oscar and José Costa. They planted 4,000 eucalyptus trees on site and improved the existing road. The planting led from the Avenida Pajas Blancas to the beach and finally formed a pergola .
