The Palacio Brunet is a listed building in the center of the city of Trinidad , Province of Sancti Spíritus on Cuba . It is located at the central Parque José Martí (also Parque Trinidad or Plaza Mayor ) and today houses the Museo Romántico , which documents the lifestyle of wealthy Cubans in the 19th century. It is named after Nicolás Brunet y Muñoz, the son-in-law of the builder Santiago Borell. The building is part of the world cultural heritage in the colonial quarter of Trinidad; the Franciscan monastery (1745), the parish church of Santísima Trinidad and the architecture museum, which is housed in the former palace of the sugar baron Sánchez lznaga from 1738, are adjacent.

The Palacio Brunet was built between 1740 and 1812 and still shows elements of the Mudejar style on the ground floor . The upper floor from 1812 has a classicistic character. On May 26, 1974, the Romantic Museum was opened here with furnishings and jewelery collected from all over Cuba. It shows the ambience of a colonial mansion in 14 showrooms. The owners of the sugar plantations vied with each other for the grandeur of their palaces, the spaciousness of their patios, and the preciousness of their furnishings imported from Europe. The spacious patio of the Palacio Brunet was considered one of the most magnificent here. The sugar barons also acted as sponsors of theaters. Brunet also had the first railway line built between the port of Casilda and its sugar cane plantations in the Valle de los Ingenios .
